Community and Education
Community Initiatives Overview
Around the world, OfficeMax community outreach efforts have much in common.
Our U.S. Operations have a clear mandate to assist K-12 educators at public schools in need, while advancing our diversity goals. In 2007, we made major strides in this direction through two key initiatives:
A Day Made Better, the largest single philanthropic event in our company’s history; and the mechanism through which the momentum will be continued, the OfficeMax Volunteer Program.
Grand & Toy, our Canadian subsidiary, refined its approach in 2007 to work primarily with KidsFest, an organization that provides academic and other opportunities to Canadian children living below the poverty line.
In Mexico, at our majority-owned joint venture, OfficeMax associates raised $50,000 toward upgrading and eventually rebuilding a public school attended by the children of working class and economically disadvantaged families.
OfficeMax Australasia (our operations in Australia and New Zealand) partnered with suppliers and a leading children’s charity to launch “Max e Grants,” a grant program open to schools that work with disadvantaged children who are struggling to fully participate in the education system.
