Associate Relations
The relationship between OfficeMax and its many thousands of associates is invaluable. The company prefers building and maintaining associate trust and engagement in much the same way we communicate with associates – directly. That said, OfficeMax of course honors and upholds our associates’ rights, as protected by local, state and/or federal laws, to exercise freedom of association to join or form a union for the purposes of collective bargaining, or to refrain from that association. Currently none of the stores or facilities within our U.S. Operations are represented by unions or collective bargaining agreements.
At our Canadian subsidiary, Grand & Toy, 487 associates, or 22 percent of the workforce were covered by collective bargaining agreements in 2007.
