A Day Made Better

A Day Made BetterIn 2008, OfficeMax expanded our A Day Made Better initiative, which was launched in 2007 as the most ambitious community outreach effort in the company’s history.

With the goal of eliminating teacher-funded classrooms, OfficeMax associates surprised 1,300 teachers at 1,300 schools (up from 1,000 each in 2007) with in-class ceremonies and donated school supplies.

A Day Made Better was designed to underscore OfficeMax’s community outreach focus on helping educators at K-12 schools, who spend an average of $1,200 per year of their own money on basic school supplies. The recognition the event received should benefit not only the direct recipients – the teachers and schools who may already be our customers – but anyone who has a stake in a well-educated America.

OfficeMax benefited by the recognition as well, with an estimated 61 million people having been exposed to positive media coverage of the event. For detailed information, please see the Community and Education section.
