Diversity and Inclusion
Strategic Direction/Areas of Influence
In 2007, the OfficeMax Diversity Council set forth our Diversity and Inclusion strategic direction to guide our activities over the next five years. Working from that direction, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion categorized our efforts under the following three Areas of Influence:
• Workforce. Refers to the inclusion and representation of our associates’ diversity as defined in the Management Approach section.
• Workplace. Addresses the business processes, work environment, policies and work conditions for greater associate participation and engagement.
• Marketplace. Refers to our customers, customer experience, investors, our vendors and suppliers, and how we go to market.
To deliver successfully on these Areas of Influence, we also established a strategic focus along six categories of company activity, including the following:

• Community Affairs
• Education/Training
• AAP/EEO
• Supplier Diversity
• Workforce
