Report Profile
Living Values 2008 is OfficeMax Incorporated’s third consecutive public report on our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance, based on the Global Reporting Initiative G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines.
Living Values 2008 serves as an encapsulated update on, and overview of, OfficeMax’s CSR efforts, primarily for calendar year (CY) 2008. While the report content focuses primarily on CY 2008, it also includes key CY 2006 and 2007 information and metrics to help establish a baseline for comparison. Some content pertaining to CY 2009 is included where it aids understanding of our CSR efforts and/or provide the most current information.
For our U.S. Operations it is our belief that the information and metrics contained within represents a G3 guideline application level “C,” while containing many elements of application level “B.”
We have included a GRI Index to provide the reader with a quick reference to the GRI indicators on which we have reported, along with a Table of Contents to aid the reader’s navigation of this report.
We have also provided anecdotal information regarding our CSR activities for our wholly-owned subsidiary in Canada and our operations in Australia and New Zealand (Australasia).
Basis for Reporting Boundary. OfficeMax is committed to reporting substantive information on our CSR plans and performance. Data collection protocols are the most mature and robust in our U.S. Operations, which enables us to substantially fulfill the G3 reporting guidelines for this unit. As the company continues integrating its various entities, we will continue publishing a report that is more representative of our global operations.
